Facebook is at it yet again. This time they are working to take over the rentals market using Zumper, Apartment list and Rental Beast. With over 2.07 billion users the marketplace is already growing exponentially, and since January, the search volume has increased 300% globally. While Facebook already allows for users to list their homes for sale on the marketplace, Facebook reps say the feature is slowly being rolled out and is currently only available on the mobile app in the U.S. However, even though home sales are only gradually rolling out, the rental market is in full swing according to Facebook reps, and thousands of rental units are now available to view on Facebook.
The app isn’t just updating by adding listings, but also improving the capabilities of the platform on which it performs. Custom filters for the following details:
- # of Bedrooms
- # of Bathrooms
- Rental Type
- Square Footage
- Dog/Cat Friendly
- 360 Degree Images for Rental Listings
All a renter will need to do once they find a rental listing they are interested in is fill out a short contact form and then the owner or property manager will contact them directly. While Facebook does not plan on jumping into any transactions, only connecting users and homeowners/property managers, they do state that you must use Apartment List or Zumper to list your rental. Facebook even goes so far as to outline an easy to use process for creating a listing.
1. Create a Facebook Page for your business if you don’t already have one.
2. Sign up with one of our listing partners and contact them to arrange for the listings to be on Marketplace.
